Gertrude 'Trudie' Jindrak Obituary



Gertrude M. 'Trudie' Barker Jindrak, 69 of Port Byron passed away peacefully, April 8, 2024, at her home after a short illness.

  She was born January 11, 1955, to Louise and Burton L. Smith Sr. in Lafayette, NY and spent most of her life in the Syracuse and CNY areas. Trudie was devoted to loving and caring not only for her family but also to many others who she touched with her generosity and wisdom.

  Along with her parents, she is also predeceased by former husband of 21 years, Fay E. 'Pete' Barker, brother-in-law David R. Long, father and mother-in-law Clifford L. and Marie Jindrak, and especially, lifelong best friend, for over 60 years, whom she considered as another sister, Debbie (Koons) Thomas.

  She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Mark L. Jindrak, five brothers, Burton L. (Jeanie) Smith Jr., Richard H. (Sheri) Smith, David C. (Beth) Smith, Marc H. (Sandy ) Smith, Jerry K. (Debbie) Smith, sister Sharon L. Long, brother-in-law Jonathan C. (Patricia) Jindrak, five children, Steve R. (Krista) Barker, William B. (Jennifer) Barker, Stephanie A. (Thomas) Watkins, Mark R. (Miroslava) Jindrak, Michael P. (Karri) Jindrak, her best friends husband, John Thomas, 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

  There are no calling hours and a private burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.

  Donations may be made to either, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Disabled Veteran Organization, Tunnel 2 Towers.
