AUBURN | Florence (Prystal) Walawender, 87, of Auburn, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, Nov. 9, 2018 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a life resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Prystal. Florence was a longtime communicant of St. Hyacinth’s Church and former auxiliary member of the SK Post. Prior to her retirement, Florence had been employed for more than 20 years by the former Dunn & McCarthy Shoe Company. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many and will be sadly missed. Florence was an excellent cook, especially her delicious and famous Pigs n Blanket or homemade pierogis.
She is survived by her loving children, daughter, Teresa Walawender; sons, Ronald (Lynn) Walawender, and Steven (Sharon) Walawender, all of Auburn; four grandchildren, Kyle (Maureen) Walawender, Jennifer Walawender, Jessica Walawender, and Sara Collins; four great-grandchildren, Trenton and Braedon Cramer, Samantha Walawender, and Linkin Collins; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and lifelong friend, Helen Napoli.
In addition to her parents, Florence was predeceased by her husband, Stanley in 2012; four sisters, and four brothers.
Friends are invited to join the family at 11 a.m. this Tuesday in St. Hyacinth’s Church for Florence’s Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. (tomorrow) Monday at Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
