Grace McGrath Obituary

AUBURN | Grace (Catalano) McGrath, 90, of Westminster Manor, Auburn, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, Aug. 14, 2018, at The Commons on St. Anthony.

She was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late Cosimo and Elizabeth Todisco Catalano and resided most of her life in the Auburn area. Together with her husband, James, they resided in Las Vegas upon retirement for more than 20 years. Grace was a longtime communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She previously was employed for several years by the former General Electric Company in Auburn. Grace was most happy being at home, whether it was cooking delicious meals or keeping the house in tip, top condition. Grace loved the many times spent at her home with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her five loving children: daughters, Patricia Shaw, and Sharon (Jason) White, all of Auburn; sons, Michael (Carrie) McGrath, of Las Vegas, Nev., Jimmy McGrath and spouse, Phillip Foscarini, of California, and Mark (Traci) McGrath, of Virginia; two sisters, Theresa Eddy, of Auburn, and Betty (Richard) Maggio, of California; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Norma Catalano; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Jean and Margaret.

In addition to her parents, Grace was predeceased by her husband, James in 2013; a granddaughter, Michele; sister, Ann King and her husband, Glenn; a brother, Joe Catalano; son-in-law, Bob Shaw, and brother-in-law, William Eddy.

A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. this Friday morning with services to immediately follow at 11 a.m. all at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Grace’s memory to Westminster Manor, South Street, Auburn, NY 13021.

A special thank you to the staff on the third floor at The Commons for their loving care that was shown to Grace during her stay.
