James D. Currier Sr., 60 of Montezuma passed away Friday July 13,2018 at SUNY Upstate Hospital in Syracuse.
He was born in Auburn , the son of the late Paul Sr. and Beryl Wise Currier and had been an area resident his entire life. ' Jimmy' as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was a Army veteran having served our country honorably during the Vietnam era. He was formerly employed for several years by Consolidated Scrap witch later became Auburn Metals. Jim was an avid outdoorsman , and especially enjoyed boating and fishing. He also loved animals and cherished his many canine and feline friends over the years. Jimmy was a handy man of sorts, that would try to attempt to fix just about anything. He was a ' true' character in every sense of the word. Jimmy's charismatic smile, quick wit and sense of humor will forever be remembered and truly never forgotten.
He is survived by his children, son James Currier Jr., daughter Christina Church, step- daughter Heather, sisters Linda Elkins, Brenda Covitch both of N.C., Jean Currier and her companion Steve ,two brothers Larry Currier, Robert Currier, several grandchildren, nieces,nephews,cousins and extended animal family.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by a brother Paul Jr.
Calling hours are today from 2-4 pm in Pettigrass Funeral Home. Services are Monday at 12:00 pm in the funeral home 196 Genesee St.,Auburn. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Port Byron.
