Joanne M. Calimeri

AUBURN | Joanne M. Calimeri, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Joanne was a lifelong resident of Auburn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fanny and Frank Calimeri; her brothers, Claude, Jerry, and Bob Calimeri; sister-in-law, Patty Calimeri, and her beloved kitties, Muffin, Molly, and Murphy.
Joanne worked for many years at GE, New York Telephone, and Auburn Memorial Hospital.  She enjoyed wood-carving, mahjong, and Monk.  To Joanne, family was everything.  She was most happy spending time with her extended family, many of whom live far away and were recipients of her unfailing Saturday or Sunday calls.  Joanne will be deeply missed by her family and dear friends, who she left with wonderful memories of her unique and irreverent sense of humor.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Steve, Mark, and Tina Calimeri, Patricia (Nick) Calimeri Valente, Jerome Calimeri, Catherine (Ray) Calimeri Whittier, and Susan and Chris Calimeri; her sister-in-law, Barbara Calimeri; great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, and her kitties, Marcy and Lucy.
Special thanks to Joanne’s angels (caregivers), Ronayne, Margaret, Lexi, Dani, Theresa, Alex, Ginger, Maddie, Sherry, and Stephanie.  The family also wishes to thank Hospice of the Finger Lakes, especially Norma and Matthew for their guidance and support in the final days.
There will be no calling hours or services per Joanne’s wishes.
