AUBURN | Mary T. Martellaro, 90, of West Street, Auburn, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Jan. 9, 2019, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a life resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late John and Mary Auchman. “Pete,” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends had been previously employed by the former Firth Carpet and General Electric Co. Mary had several hobbies, including crossword puzzles, knitting, reading, gardening, and occasional trips to one of our local casinos. She also loved animals, taking long walks around town with her husband, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her Sunday dinners were her most favorite and cherished times with her family, especially if you were fortunate enough to have her famous meatballs and sauce. What brought the biggest smile to her face were the times she enjoyed with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her loving children, daughters, Linda (Joe) Sliwka, and Josephine (William) Leonard, all of Auburn; three sons, John (Peggy) Martellaro, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Angelo (Janet Belles) Martellaro, and Anthony (Tammy Green) Martellaro, all of Auburn; her grandchildren, Molly (Brad) Vuillemot, William Leonard, Johnny and Sherry Martellaro, Jessica (Jason) Barrette, Angelo (Laura) Martellaro, Danielle (Nick) Fantasia, and Jamie Martellaro; her eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Virginia Bauder, of Indiana; her daughter-in-law, Kristine Martellaro; her neighbor, Tianna Richardson; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her feline companions.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, John in 1992; a sister, Irene “Tweet” Beckwith, and a brother, John Auchman.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. this Sunday afternoon at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at 11 a.m. this Monday at the funeral home for Mary’s services.
