Matthew J. Rizzo
AUBURN | Matthew J. Rizzo, 28, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at his home in Liverpool.
He was born in Auburn, the son of Edward J. And Mary Lynn Walsh Rizzo and had been an area resident for most of his life. Matt was a disabled U.S. Army veteran having served our country proudly and honorably during the Iraqi War. Matt’s service to our country exemplified his love and passion for our great nation. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Matt was a Buffalo Bills football fan. He volunteered as a fireman for several years at the Owasco Fire Department. Matt loved and cared for people and cherished his many family and friends. He will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his loving parents, Edward (Mary Lynn) Rizzo; a son, Ayden Rizzo and his mother, Ashley Landers; two brothers, Edward J. (Brittany) Rizzo Jr., and Patrick Rizzo; his maternal grandparents, Thomas (Betsy) Walsh; paternal grandparents, Edward (Marie) Rizzo; niece, Valentina Rizzo; as well as several other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Patricia Rizzo.
Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at 10:30 a.m. this Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, in St. Hyacinth’s Church, Pulaski Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. this Monday at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
