Richard Guzalak Obituary

AUBURN — Richard A. Guzalak, 77, of Seymour Street, Auburn, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, April 29, 2018 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard, or Dick as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was born in Auburn, the son of the late Alexander and Julia Dudurich Guzalak and had been a life resident. Dick was a Navy veteran, having served our country honorably during the Cuban Missile Crisis while on the USS Henley. Prior to his retirement, Dick had been employed as an Auburn policeman for more than 28 years and a member of the Auburn Police Union.

He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dick also liked to cruise around in his famed 1955 Mercury, follow SU basketball, was an avid bowler and enjoyed taking a few dollars from his friends on the Friday night card games. He cherished the times spent with his family and will be sadly missed by all of them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol Pesarchick Guzalak of Auburn; three children, sons, Richard (Anne Hoff), Daniel (Mary Jo Pelc) all of Auburn and daughter, Christie (Jim) Waite of Camillus; two grandchildren, Amanda and Richie Guzalak; two brothers, John (Janet) of Florida, David (Millie) of Auburn and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by a son Kenneth in 1988.

Friends and relatives are invited to join the family this Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in SS. Peter & Paul Church for Richard's Mass of Christian burial.
