CAYUGA | Stewart J. Foster, 78, of Cayuga, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Van Duyn Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse.
He was born in Aurelius, the son of the late Alfred and Dorothy Hayes Foster and had been an area life resident. Stewart was a skilled mechanic having worked for many years at various local establishments. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be sadly missed by all of them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Geraldine Muth Foster; eight children, Teresa Wood, Bobby Wood, Mark (Dixie) Wood, Kim Wood, Vicki Roof, Kelly (Brian) Kirschner, Sharon (Jon Masi) Rieley, and James (Vicky Townsend) Foster; five brothers, Carl, Rodney, Rodger, Boyd, and Craig Foster; a sister, Beverly Short; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Stewart was predeceased by his beloved son, Todd Wood; brothers, Donald and Ralph Foster; sister, Eleanor Powers, and beloved canine friend, Daisy.
Calling hours are from 1 to 4 p.m. this Sunday afternoon at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn, with services to immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Friends are invited to join the family immediately following the services for a celebration of Stewart’s life at the Aurelius Volunteer Fire House, Half Acre Road.
