Alice L. Jordan, 75 of Auburn passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Auburn the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Wilson) Jordan and had been a lifelong resident. Alice graduated from East High School, Class of 1967 and received her bachelor’s degree from Wells College in Aurora. She served our country honorably in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Alice had several careers all to one aim. Helping others. Including directing the Human Rights Office, to social work and investigations for Cayuga County, and most recently, counselor for Cayuga Counseling. Always the advocate, she was a volunteer for SAVAR (Sexual Assault Victims Advocate Resource). She consistently sought opportunities to unite individuals by leading various clubs and organizations during her “free time”. She enjoyed Mahjong, Scrabble and was an award winning painter. Undaunted by retirement, Alice taught painting classes for many years, was a mentor and advocate to many. Cherished as mom, wife, friend, Auntie Alice, and Queen Meama by those she held dear.
She is survived by her devoted husband, David Cook; her two children, Dana Skinner and Dione Sroka; her two step-children, Donna Cook and Mark (Kristin) Cook; her grandchildren, Morgan and Tyler Cook; and her two siblings, brother Eugene ‘Butch’ Jordan and partner Doreen Kehoskie, and sister Jacqueline (Shaune) Thomas. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.
