Anna Di Perna, 82 of Lansing, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12, 2025 after a courageous battle of dealing with a broken heart after losing her husband in 2023 and the progression of Mixed Dementia.
Born on June 9, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, she lived a life rooted in devotion to her family and guided by her faith. It is there where she met the love of her life, married and had five of her children before they moved to Danby, NY to continue to raise their family together.
Anna was the cherished daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Dobbin) Romano. She was predeceased in death by her husband Nazzareno Di Perna; sons Carmelo and Anthony; sisters Virginia McCann and Elizabeth Brennan. Though their absence was deeply felt Anna remained steadfast in her faith and love for those who continued to surround her with love and care.
A loving housewife, Anna dedicated her life to nurturing her home and raising her six children with care and strength, all while also helping out Nazzareno with his many businesses. Her hands were rarely still, weather cooking homemade meals for her family, tending to the many gardens with her husband and then preserving the harvests of fruits and vegetables through canning and freezing. She loved to crochet beautiful pieces for her kids and grandkids and found joy in quietly reading her bible and in later years working through her many word search puzzles. These hobbies reflected her loving, nurturing spirit that we all loved.
Anna was the beloved and devoted wife to Nazzareno for 65 years until his passing in 2023. If there is any peace to be felt by this tremendous loss, its knowing that she is now happy and pain free being reunited with him and back in his arms once again.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children; son Michael (Karen) Di Perna, and daughters Lisa (Brian) Parkin, Joann (Alan) Payne, Nancy (Brian) Kelly. She was the proud grandmother to fourteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will remember her with affection.
Anna’s life was one of great strength and enduring faith. She now rests in eternal peace with those who went before her. May her memory be a blessing and bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
To honor her wishes there will be a graveside service this Friday , April 18th at 10:00 am in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 6020 Lake Avenue Ext., Auburn, NY with the Rev. Louis Vasile officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
