Anthony J. Lupo



Anthony J. Lupo, 81 of Auburn passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, December 10,2023 at Auburn Community Hospital.

  He was a lifelong resident of Auburn, the son of the late Anthony and Julia (Grega) Lupo.  Anthony served our country honorably in the US Marine Corps during the 1960's. Tony retired from New Process Gear in Syracuse after more than 30 years of service. He was a former member of the VFW Post, American Legion Swietoniowski Kopeczek Post #1324 and C.I.A.O (Cultural Italian American Organization).  He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, camping, watching Westerns and having an occasional drink with family and friends. Tony was an avid German Shephard lover and owner. Tony's quick wit and charismatic smile will forever be remembered and never duplicated by the many special friends and family that were fortunate enough to get to know, Anthony J. Lupo. He will be sadly missed.

  He is survived by five children, Lisa Gabak, Lori (Ed) Lupo-Stanek, Anthony J. Lupo Jr., Michael (Lisa) Lupo, Joanna 'Jodi' Lupo (Craig White), eight grandchildren, John Michael, Alyssa, Jenna, and Ryan Gabak, Mathew (Kristen) Mettler, Amanda and Morgan Lupo, Alex Rose (Bella Simonds), three great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Shay, Kamilla, a sister Beverly Aversa, brother David Lupo as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

  In addition to his parents, Tony was also predeceased by his wife Joanne, a brother Rocco and Bobby Jo Thurston, who was like a daughter-in-law to Tony.

  Calling hours are this Monday, December 18th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, with a service to immediately follow at noon, all inside of Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St.,Auburn. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
