Ashley Pettigrass-Bertonica Obituary

Ashley L. Pettigrass-Bertonica, our angel was called home Friday, July 31, 2026 to be with our Lord after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was a lifelong resident of Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School, class of 2001. Ashley received her bachelors degree from Syracuse University and participated in the ESL program in Boston. Ashley was recently employed as a court assistant with the Cayuga County Family Court for the State of New York. She loved her job and helping others in need. Ashley's biggest passion and love was for her fury, canine friends. She was a huge advocate for the safety and protection of any dog. Ashley and Jerid adopted a pomsky, Winnie who did not have the best life on an area farm, rescued a puggle, 'Tate' from the streets of Texas and took in ' Loki' from an abusive situation. They had several other dogs that they were fortunate enough to have be part of their home and their family. Ashley also loved ‘Halloween’ and together with her husband Jerid, enjoyed countless events and parties that were ultra ‘spooky’!

She survived by her husband, Jerid Bertonica, her parents, Kim and John Pettigrass Ill, grandmother, Barbara, Wood, brother Brody Pettigrass, her in-laws, Christine Sullivan and Frederick Bertonica, sister and brother-in-law, Lauren and Jason Page, brother-in-law, Eric Bertonica as well as several cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her grandfather, Richard T, Wood and grandparents, Lillian T and John J Pettigrass Jr. as well as her beloved canine friends Remington, Odin, Beauty and Thor.

A private service and burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.

You could have never met a kinder, caring, more giving and loving woman, as Ashley. Her loss has devastated our family and has left a huge hole in all of our hearts.

A special thank you to the staff of 4 Central at Auburn Community Hospital,  for their most sincere kindness and compassion, that helped the family get through Ashley's last few days.

In lieu of flowers, please kindly consider a donation in Ashley’s memory to either the American Cancer Society or to Ashley’s favorite animal rescue , The Asher House, PO Box 3548, Salem, Oregon 97302  or to TheAsherHouse.com
