Assunta ”Gina” Mironti, 97 of Auburn passed away peacefully November 26,2025 at Auburn Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Morolo-Frosinone Italy the daughter of the late Antonio and Angela (Mancini) Guliani. She emigrated with her three children in 1970 to be with her husband Ennio. They settled in Cortland, NY. , raising their family and Gina spent several years working for Wilson Sporting Goods and retired from SUNY Cortland in their food service department.
In her later years, she moved to Auburn and found her new family and friends. Together with her husband they enjoyed traveling back to Morolo, Italy many times. Gina enjoyed gardening and her beautifying her flower bed. She was an excellent cook and baker, known for her homemade pastas, and polenta. Gina was very active with CIAO upon the organization’s establishment into the area. Gina would often make pizza fritte for their many functions, earning the title the white apron ‘ Pizza Fritte Queen’ ! She was honored as the oldest CIAO member. Gina was a very devout Catholic and, member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. When she couldn’t attend, she would watch the daily mass on EWTN and never missed the Pope’s Mass in Italy every Sunday.
She is survived by her loving children, daughter Anna (Paolo) Saltarello of Auburn,NY two sons, Sandro (Denise) Mironti of Cortland,NY Nazareno (Cindy) Mironti of Miami,FL., two grandsons Dylan and Tyler Mironti, a brother Mario Guliani in Italy, brother-in-law Eugene (Josephine) Mironti as well as several nieces ,nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Gina was also predeceased by her husband Ennio, two sisters Pia Guliani, Maria Guliani , brothers Giovani and Cataldo Guliani, and grandson James Mironti.
Assunta’s Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, December 5th at 10:00 am in St. Francs of Assisi Church with the Rev. Louis Vasile as celebrant and con- celebrant will be Rev. Vasyl Colopelnic. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.
Calling hours are Thursday, December 4th from 5-7 pm. in Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
A special thank you to Maria Lentini, Donatina Cosomassa and the staff of 3rd Memorial at Auburn Hospital for all of their extra special care and love that was shown to Gina during her illness.
Also to her loving second family on Fleming Street, thank you, especially to Steven Vincent, Dan, Cindy, Danny, and Ben who often called Gina ‘ their special grandma’ !
