Barbara Luther Bok, 80, went to her heavenly home peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024. She was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to so many who will miss this “angel on earth” beyond measure. Barbara was a joyful person who loved the Lord, her family, friends, church, and community. Barbara was born in Uniontown, PA the daughter of the late Robert Allen and Ruth Elizabeth (Walters) Luther. She was the third child of four in a loving home where she was taught Christian values which she exemplified her entire life. Barbara graduated from Uniontown Senior High School and later attended the University of Pittsburgh where she studied business. Over her lifetime, she applied this learning to a rewarding career in insurance, sales distribution and representation serving as office manager and treasurer. Barbara’s most admired strength will always be her ability to connect with people deeply. She developed a love of music at an early age while playing her violin and singing in the choir. Those that were lucky enough to sit near her in church had an opportunity to hear her beautiful soprano voice rising above the congregation with joy. At home, Barbara sang constantly. She especially loved music by John Denver, Anne Murray and many Broadway musicals. Liverpool, NY is where Barbara met and married the love of her life, Richard. They shared a long and blessed marriage full of love, laughter and friendship. Their blended family of beloved children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews frequently enjoyed time together at their home on Cayuga Lake. Family time was Barbara’s greatest joy! Barbara and Richard became “snow birds” after retirement and spent the winter months together in sunny southwest Florida. Barbara made close and lasting friendships wherever she went with her sweet and caring personality. Barbara was an incredibly thoughtful and generous person. Her “angelic” ways included forever finding ways to show her love for others through thoughtful notes, cards and gifts. She gave the gift of her time in many ways including serving on the Center for Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Hospice Auxiliary and the Westminster Manor Home Auxiliary. Barbara was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Auburn NY as well as Venice Presbyterian Church in Venice Fl. She will be missed by her loving “Belles” lady's prayer group. She taught bible school for many years and served on the church session as a deacon and an elder. She was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi, an international women’s charitable organization, where she made many dear friends. Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Richard Bok of Cayuga. Also surviving are her children she was so proud of: Jennifer (Joseph) Scicchitano, Camillus NY and Robert Foltz, Rochester NY along with two stepchildren, David (Ann) Bok, Lake Worth Fl and Lisa Rotello, Pittsburgh Pa. Barbara's adored grandchildren include, Alexander, Molly, Robert, Maxwell, Kristin (Steven), Ryan, Stephanie, Frankie, Brady, and Owen. Also left to cherish her memory are two sisters, Donna (Chuck) Strosnider, Warren, OH and Karen (Roger) Hunt, Uniontown Pa along with her sister-in-law Marlene Luther, Uniontown Pa, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a brother, Robert N. Luther. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 1:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Williams Street in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Pettigrass Funeral Home of Auburn.
