Barbara F. Polcovich
September 25, 1946 - August 8, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara F. Polcovich, fondly remembered for her warmth and pure-gold heart. Barbara’s life was filled with love, generosity, kindness, and compassion. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family.
She and her husband, William (Bill), shared life’s adventures for 62 years –58 of them married. Auburn, New York, was always considered home, though they also spent cherished chapters in Norfolk, Virginia, as well as Cocoa Beach and Zephyrhills, Florida. Bill and Barb logged many miles together, traveling to baseball, volleyball and lacrosse games across the country–first supporting their own two boys and later their beloved grandchildren.
Barbara was a loving, patient, and selfless mother to Kevin (Lisa), Brian (Sue), and a nurturing “second mother” to the many neighborhood children who grew up around her Beardsley Street home. The sun rose and set on her four adored grandchildren–Kaden, Teagan, Reagan, and Cooper. Mimi’s unconditional love for them can be felt beyond measure. She shared an especially deep and treasured bond with her sister and best friend, Judy Nunnari, and was dearly loved and supported by her brother Ronald (Mary) Noga. Barbara’s devotion and tenderness will be deeply missed by her Polcovich family, Julie and Linda, Lynn, Shirley, Ron and Karen, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends both near and far.
She is welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Matthew and Mary (Ryan) Noga, sister Patricia; brother David; Mother-in-law Ethel; brothers-in-law Robert P., Alan, Anthony, and Robert G.; and sisters-in-law Susan and Carol.
Aunt Barbie’s apple dumplings, potato salad, and fondness for anything in her favorite color–purple–will forever be part of her legacy. Barb worked for, and later retired from, TRW in Union Springs, NY, but her most joyful work was time spent in the Auburn elementary schools, where she shared unwavering love for children.
Remembrances in Barbara’s name may be made to: CSCAAP/Headstart Backpack Program, 89 York Street, Auburn, NY 13021.
Please join the family on Saturday, August 16th at Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee Street, Auburn, NY. for calling hours from 10:30-12:00 with immediate service to follow. Entombment will be in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.
May she rest peacefully.
