Bernadette (Giannettino) Restey, 91 of Auburn ,passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, December 5, 2024 at Auburn Community Hospital, after a brief illness ,with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Auburn,NY on December 3, 1933, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Frances (Zamarthie) Giannettino. Bernadette was a graduate of both West High School and Cayuga Community College, receiving her associate degree in secretarial science. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church . She was employed for many years as a secretary by Wayne Auto and retired from Auburn Community Hospital after more than 18 years of service. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Hawaii. Bernadette also liked to crotchet, knit and take several bus trips with her friends to the local casino's. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her two loving children, daughter Karen Restey Zamniak (Mark), son Robert P. Restey, grandchildren, Robert B. Restey (Melissa), Lauren Restey Valle (Carlos), Lindsey Zamniak Vaccarella (Mathew), Jaimie Zamniak Galante (Christopher), great-grandchildren, Noelle Restey, Brian Restey, Nathan Valle, Gabriella Vaccarella, Noah and Luca Galante, a sister Dolly Trinca as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bernadette was also predeceased by her husband Peter in 1990, and siblings, Patsy Siracusa, Anthony Giannettino, Joseph Giannettino, Sam Giannettino, Josephine Delano, Mamie Quatrochi and Mary Trinca.
A calling hour for family and friends will be held this Tuesday, December 10th in Sacred Heart Church from 10:00 am until 10:45 am with her Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 am in the church, 90 Melrose Road, Auburn. Burial is in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
