Betty Jean Minnoe, 83, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, at Auburn Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
A lifelong resident of the Auburn area, Betty was a proud graduate of Port Byron High School and the beloved daughter of the late Homer and Hilda Aldrich. Betty dedicated much of her life to serving others as a care provider, where her greatest gift—helping others—shone brightly.
For the past five years, Betty was an active and cherished resident of the Edward T. Boyle Center. There, she made countless friendships and took pride in organizing and planning activities that brought joy to so many. Betty was an avid reader, a talented cook, and a lover of family vacations, where she created cherished memories with those, she held dear.
Of all her accomplishments, Betty was most proud of her six children, whose love and lives were her greatest treasures. She recently celebrated her 83rd birthday surrounded by her 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, a gathering she deeply cherished. Known to many as "Grandma Betty," she touched countless lives with her warmth, kindness, and unconditional love. She will be forever missed.
Betty is survived by her six children: Thomas Jr. (Penny) Minnoe, Robin (Michael) DeBenedetto, Mark (Donna) Minnoe, Pam (Anthony) Sorendo, Kevin (Lisa) Minnoe, and Scott (Anne) Minnoe; her foster daughter, Lisa Wellington; her 12 grandchildren: Ashleigh, Sara, Kristen, Anthony, Angela, Mark, Jessica, Christopher, Erica, Brianna, Claire, and Scotty; and her 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth (Nancy) Aldrich, and her sister, Shirley Tripp, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Thomas L. Minnoe Sr.
A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign, a cause close to her heart.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to two special friends, Debbie and Nancy, and to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Auburn Community Hospital (4 Central) for their exceptional care and compassion.
Betty Jean Minnoe leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and selfless devotion. She will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
