Brian Farrelly Obituary

Brian Richard Farrelly, 48, of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, after bravely fighting a long battle with cancer.

Born on February 17, 1976, to Beth (Dougherty) and Edward Farrelly in Auburn, NY, Brian was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him. Brian was a proud graduate of Auburn High School, class of 1994, and St. Bonaventure University, where he earned his MBA. He also dedicated 19 years of his career to Kodak as an accountant.

Brian had the gift of uplifting those around him with his positivity, unwavering strength, and infectious smile. Whether you knew him as a son, brother, uncle, cousin, or friend, he made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. He loved deeply, laughed often, and approached life with a spirit that will be remembered by all.

A passionate golfer, Brian cherished his time on the course, where he found peace. His heart was equally devoted to his beloved four-legged companions, especially his dog Tessa, who was by his side through all of life’s recent ups and downs. His friends and family will remember his humor, his competitive spirit, and the joy he brought to gatherings big and small.

Brian is survived by his loving parents, Beth Farrelly (Kevin Morehouse) and Edward Farrelly; his brother, Ed (Chopper) Farrelly, and sister-in-law Leslie; his nieces and nephews, Emily (James) Way, Ava, Jack, Nick, and Madi Farrelly; his great-nephews, Brooks and Maddox Way; and his beloved dog, Tessa. He also leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins of the Dougherty and Farrelly families, as well as countless friends who will miss him dearly.

Brian’s courageous journey through his illness was supported by the generosity of his cousin, Tam Miller, who selflessly gave him the gift of life through a liver transplant. He was also blessed with the love and support of his lifelong friend, Michael Guarino.

Calling hours are this Saturday, September 28th in St. Mary's Church from 9:30 am until 11:15 am, with Brian's Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:30 am. also in St. Mary's Church, 15 Clark St., Auburn, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to two causes that were close to his heart: The Matthew House (matthewhouse.org) and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).

Brian’s life may have been cut short, but his legacy of kindness, strength, and love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
