Carr W. Magel, 93, of Auburn passed away Wednesday June 8, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 14, 1929 in Clarence, NY the oldest child of the late Carl Magel and Alberta Plieger Magel. He was a graduate of Parker High School in Clarence class of 1946.
He was employed at Sylvania Electric in Batavia, NY where he met his wife of 60 years, the former Barbara Pratt. He then got a job with Colombian Rope Company and he and Barbara moved to Auburn with their children. Carr was a well known landlord who owned several rental properties in Auburn. He also worked as an Arbitrator and was a member of PERB, FMCS, and AAA. He was an avid hunter and trapper in his younger days.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Pratt Magel and his children, Deborah (Fred) Gravanda of Batavia, NY, Jamie (Shawn) Rathbone of Auburn, Tamara Magel of NY, NY, and Jason Magel of Phoenix, AZ. He is survived by a special grandson, James (Sarah) Magel of Auburn as well as six other grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, John and Peter Magel. He was also predeceased by a son, Peter Inskeep and a grandson, Anthony Lazik.
There will be no services. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday June 26 at 4:30 pm at the Oak & Vine Restaurant in the Springside Inn. Donations in his memory can be made to Hospice of Central New York and the Finger Lakes.
