Deanna Cameron Obituary

Deanna Lee Cameron, 86 of Moravia, New York went home to be with her loving savior on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Deanna was born December 1, 1938, in Ithaca, New York, the daughter of the late Robert Byron and Helen Stroich Cameron. Then she was born again into the Kingdom of God -John 3;3. Deanna was predeceased in death by her sisters and brother, Jane (Robert) Boettner, Marilyn (Fred) Ward, Robert Cameron and her nephews, Steven Dayton and Jim Dayton.  Deanna is survived by her son, David (Bernadette) Hall, her granddaughter, Bethany Hall, her daughter Deborah (Pat) Hagin, her nieces, Julie (Scott) Goldberg, Laurie (Brad) Clinkingbeard, her great nephews Jonathan Goldberg, Cameron Clinkingbeard and Bodie Clinkingbeard, as well as her dear close friends.

Deanna grew up on beautiful Connecticut Hill outside Newfield, NY, where she and her sisters roamed the woods and cared for many pets and farm animals throughout their childhood. They raised chickens, picked grass for their many rabbits, and nurtured a love for their horse, Susie. Later in life she and her sisters loved to tell stories about how they took their fox for a walk, raised Petty Bug their fawn to return to the woods, walked across the high beams in the barn, and got in trouble when the baby goats ran around on the tops of cars.

Following graduation from Newfield High School, Deanna worked for Morse Chain in Ithaca and later for Cornell University in the Poultry Science Department. Deanna loved spending time with family and friends in the berry patch. She enjoyed going to Barb’s diner with her friends and lived her life caring about others, particularly their salvation. As her son David says, she has been our Prayer Warrior.

A pivotal moment on October 23, 1975, at Moravia Methodist Church when Reverend Dunlap preached, Deanna was saved. She became a member of the Freedom Baptist Church, shortly after her conversion and remained a member for over 50 years. She was truly a lover of souls. Being a passionate follower of Christ Jesus, her calling was to lead others to Him and to salvation.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 13, 2025, at 7:00 pm in the Freedom Baptist Church in Auburn, NY. Calling hours will precede the service from 6-7 pm on the 13th. In lieu of flowers donations can be made, in Deanna Cameron’s name, to the Freedom Baptist Church, 3324 East Genesee Street Road, Auburn, NY 13021. Please see the pettigrassfuneralhome.com website for full details.
