Deborah J. (Leonello) Giannone

Deborah J. Giannone, 71 of Auburn passed away Saturday, January 10,2026 at Auburn Community Hospital.
 She was a life resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Dorothy (McLaughlin) Leonello. Deb graduated from Auburn High School, Class of 1972 and attended BOCES, where she received her nursing degree. Debbie was an LPN for Auburn Memorial Hospital and retired after many years of service at the Auburn Nursing Home. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and especially loved to cook for her family and friends. Deb was an avid animal lover, with a fondness for her canine friends.  Above everything, Deb cherished all the special times spent with her family and especially adored her grandchildren. Debbie was a unique and beautiful soul. Debbie was so funny and kind, she brought a freshness to every situation and setting, and her perspective was always so magical, and usually hilarious. She will be greatly missed.

 She is survived by her loving husband of over 30 years, James Giannone, six children, Jeffrey (Jessica) Hadden , Christopher Hadden, Christina Giannone, Amanda Giannone, twins James Jr. and Bobby Giannone , several grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five siblings , Cathy Leonello, Angelo Leonello, Doreen (Greg) Travis, Christine ( Jeff) Kelley, Libby (Jeff) Hockey , many nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved canine friend, Oreo.
 In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Timothy Leonello.
 Calling hours are this Wednesday, January 14th from 4-6 pm, with services to follow at 6 pm, all inside of Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
