Deborah ‘Deb’ S. (Forish) Currier

Deborah ‘Deb’ S. (Forish) Currier, 60 of Auburn passed away Wednesday, September 23,2025 at Auburn Community Hospital after a brief illness.

  She was a life resident of Auburn, the daughter of Kathleen (Maher) Matteson and the late Joseph Forish. ‘Deb’ as she was affectionately known by her family and friends was a beautician for many years. Deb had an enormous passion for animals. Whether it was rescuing for her own care or finding new homes for others, she cared and loved passionately and effortlessly for as many as she could. She also loved boating and spending countless hours  with her friends on Owasco Lake.  Deb would always put others first and was someone you could truly count on , no matter the time or situation. She will be forever missed and held closely and dearly in the hearts of those many special friends and family that loved her endlessly.

  She is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Currier Jr., her beloved  mother Kathleen and stepfather Frederick Matteson , stepdaughter Meghan (Holly) Reynolds, two sisters, Laureen Sullivan, Kristine Matteson, father-in-law Gerald (Ronda)  Currier Sr., aunt Nancy Shutter, uncle Stephen Forish, several nieces,nephews, cousins, many close friends, especially Karina Ferrera, Tammy Carnicelli , Sandy Desiderio,  Taryn Homick as well her beloved fur babies , Sofie, Sammy, Frankie, and Lacey.

  In addition to her father, Deb was also predeceased by both her maternal grandparents, Helen and John Maher, and paternal grandparents Ann Sabel and Stephen Forish, two aunts Patricia Zink and Anne Sabel.

  Calling hours are this Sunday, September 28th from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with services to immediately follow, all inside of Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
