Dorothy 'Dot' Parsons Obituary

Dorothy “Dot” Parsons, 91 of Throop, was born in New Hope, NY to Henry and Clara Andrews on October 24, 1933. A graduate of Moravia High School, she married her sweetheart William E. Parsons in July of 1955. A lifelong resident of the town of Throop, Dorothy worked many secretarial positions at various locations in Auburn, NY, including Beneficial Finance, Nye & Wait, Cayuga County Lab, and Meals on Wheels.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Clara Andrews, her husband Bill, her sister Julia Ludovico, and her daughter, Renae Parsons-Whiffen.

Survived by her brother Albert (Emma) Andrews of Montezuma, sons William (Deborah) Parsons of Conroe, TX, Eric (Mary) Parsons of Moravia, Wesley Parsons of Auburn, her son-in-law William (Renae) Whiffin, and her grandson Jeremy Parsons.

She had 8 Grandchildren: Nathan (Danna) Parsons, Shawn (Fisun) Parsons, Aaron (Carrie) Parsons, Teresa (Brandon) Mettler, Heather Parsons, Matthew (Keisha) Parsons, Garrett (Eunice) Parsons, and grand-daughter-in-law Dixie Parsons. Great-Grandchildren: Olivia, Ivan, Addison, Luke, Cole, Haven, Austin, and Mario.

Dorothy “Dot” enjoyed her retirement. Her favorite pastime/hobby was crocheting afghans, which she gifted to everyone she knew. She also donated her crafts to worthy causes and enjoyed sharing her beautiful blankets with everyone. She crocheted right up until she passed. She also wrote in her diary every day of her life and enjoyed reminiscing about days gone by.

Per Dorothy’s final wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
