Edward Charles Farrelly, age 77, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, after an extended illness.
He was born on November 17, 1948, in Auburn, New York, to Joseph and Jane (Reidy) Farrelly, and remained a proud lifelong resident of Auburn.
Edward served honorably in the United States Marine Corps in the Vietnam War. During his service, he earned numerous military honors, including the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame. Following his military service, Edward dedicated 32 years as a New York State Corrections Officer.
Edward is survived by his son, Edward Farrelly (Leslie); his grandchildren, Emily Way (James), Ava, Jack, Nick, and Madi Farrelly; and his great-grandchildren, Brooks and Maddox Way. He is also survived by his siblings Ronald, Timothy, Deborah Brew, Kathryn Smith, and Susan Treat, the mother of his children, Beth Farrelly, as well as many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by his son, Brian Farrelly, and his siblings David, Joseph, William, Thomas, Paul, Richard, Bernard, Shirley Halcomb, Jeanne Berry, and Patricia McNabb.
Edward loved playing golf and cheering on the Syracuse Orange and the New York Yankees. He was known for his heart of gold and the pride he carried for his service.
Edward’s family finds comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his beloved son Brian, together again in peace.
Calling hours are this Monday, February 2,2026 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, with services to immediately follow in Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Burial is in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
