Edward Wildner Obituary

AUBURN –Edward F. Wildner, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Auburn Community Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of late John G. and Stella (Jurek) Wildner.

After graduating from East High School, Ed worked as a DJ at WAUB. He then served in the US Air Force, stationed at Peace Air Force base in New Hampshire and in Thailand, during which time he married Kathleen (Kudla) in 1967. After graduating from Auburn Community College, he worked as a draftsman, and retired as a custodian in the Auburn School District.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracie Wildner, beloved granddaughter Kaitlin Tanner, both of Syracuse, sisters Lorraine (Gary) Schwartz of Marcellus, Dorothy (David) Kopp of Auburn, best friend of 52 years Bob Lyna, special brother-in-law George (Lorraine) Kudla, many other sisters –and brothers -in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, wife Kathleen (2022), sister Shirley Rugolo (2020).

Ed loved music of all kinds and was a well-respected, skilled guitarist in the local area. He was a member of the Guitar League in Syracuse and enjoyed sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of music with others. He enjoyed making others laugh and was known for his quick wit and unparalleled sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by many.

The family will gather with friends this Sunday, July 7th in the Pettigrass Funeral Home at 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 pm at the funeral home, 196 Genesee St.,Auburn.
