Emily (Catalano) Tonzi Knaus, 103, of Auburn passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on November 30, 2024.
Emily was a life long resident of Auburn. After many years of service, she retired from the General Electric Company. She loved cooking for her family, walking, and playing golf and tennis. Emily was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She lived a full and blessed life, and will be missed by her family.
Emily is survived by her loving husband Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Knaus, children, Peter (Joanne) Tonzi, Patricia Tonzi (Joe) O’Mara, Andrea Tonzi (Richard) Cosentino, daughter-in-law Sandra (Scomber) Tonzi, Christopher (Michele) Knaus, grandchildren Lisa Tonzi (Ed) Grassi, Gina Tonzi (Jay) Ajmo, Molly O’Mara (Brian) Adcock, Andrew (Loren) O’Mara, Brian (Rahel) O’Mara, Jennifer Tonzi (Pat) Furnia, Jason (Sarah) Tonzi, George Cosentino, Nicholas Cosentino, Casey Cosentino (Kyle) Dudek, Haley Knaus, Kaitlin Knaus, 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Emily was the daughter of the late James and Josephine (Spagnola) Catalano. She was also predeceased by her first husband George Tonzi, son William Tonzi, step-son Michael Knaus, sister-in-law Julie Knaus, and six sisters.
A special thank you to Val Rivet, Danielle Green, Denise Brooks, Jolene Northrup, Jen Lawless, Janelle Ryan, and Elaine Colangelo for the loving care and compassion they provided for Emily as her caregivers over the last three years.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 28 at Sacred Heart Church from 10:00 am to 10:45 am with her Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 am with the Rev. Louis Vasile as celebrant.
