Everett Ray Swagler, 94 of Endicott, passed away peacefully at home September 29,2021 , surrounded by his loving family.
He was born and resided most of his life in the Endicott, and Endwell areas , the son of the late James L. and Ida ( Cornell) Swagler. Everett was a US Marine during World War II, serving our country honorably. He retired in 1982 after more than 41 years of service as an engineer for IBM. Everett was an avid fisherman , gardener and expert Bocce ball player . Everett spent many summer vacations with his family on Owasco Lake which he loved and he also enjoyed spending the winters in Florida. He will be sadly missed by all of his family.
He s survived by his loving children, twins Debra ( Chuck) Maggio of Marathon,Fla., Curtis ( Patricia) Swagler of State College, Pa., James ( Debra) Swagler of Auburn, grandchildren Lisa and David Maggio, Craig N. Swagler ( MiHee Kim- Swagler), Sheila ( Jason) Swagler Edman, twins Blake ( Brendan) McEvoy, Todd E. ( Ryan Ulsh) Swagler, Jamie ( Kayla ) Swagler, Josh ( Kayla) Swagler, Tyler Reed, 9 great- grandchildren Mia, Trey, Siena, C.J., Duke, Mila , Kaiya and Ella , three sisters Alene Desko, Dolores ( Nick) Dranchak as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Ida in 2014, a son and soldier Craig E. Swagler, a Navy seaman that was killed in Vietnam in 1969, two brothers Lester and Norman Swagler and one sister.
A celebration of Everett’s life will be held at a future date and time that will be announced. In lieu of flowers , please plant a tree or donate to a charity of one's choice in memory of Everett.
