Francis R. Grinnell

Francis R. Grinnell, 96 of Skaneateles passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Friday , December 17,2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a life resident of Skaneateles, the son of the late Ernest and Charlotte ( Lottie ) Grinnell. Francis worked for the Town of Skaneateles Highway Department for more than 35 years in various capacities. His family owned and operated  a former nursing home in Skaneateles for several years. Francis also maintained and beautified many estates in the Skaneateles area as their main groundskeeper.
   Some of Francis’s passions were, woodworking, hunting , gardening and bird watching. He enjoyed being outdoors  and especially loved to watch the Blue Birds enter his custom made bird houses.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Sharon Dacey of Auburn, Kim Grinnell of Marietta, three grandchildren, Sierra Schneider, Dustin Dacey, Kelsey ( Ryan ) Deleel, a great- grandson Ayden as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
   In addition to his parents, Francis was also predeceased by his wife Evelyn ( Lader) Grinnell, and a brother Robert Grinnell.
  The church service  in First Presbyterian Church , 97 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles,NY  has been moved to Saturday , April 30, 2022 at 11:00 am in the church.

  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of CNY , Hospice of the Fingerlakes, Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department  or SAVES ( Skaneateles Ambulance Volunteer Emergency Service), 77 Fennell St.,Skaneateles,NY 13152.
