Frederick ‘Rick’ L. Whiting, 65 of Auburn passed away peacefully Monday, January 6, 2025 in Auburn Community Hospital.
Rick was a life resident of Auburn, the son of the late Frederick E and Thelma (Curtis) Whiting. Rick graduated from Weedsport High School, class of 1977. He worked as a plumber for Auburn Correctional Facility until his retirement in 2018. Rick loved camping in the Adirondacks, fishing and enjoying his time at home in the country. His children were his greatest joy and enjoyed teaching them many different trades. He was an avid Buffalo Bills football fan and loved teaching his daughter many things , especially riding the go-cart . He cherished all the many special times he had with his family.
He is survived by his loving children, Jeff (Halee), Tim (Stephanie), Nicki (Matt),
a granddaughter Olivia , the mother of his children, Michele (Petrosino) Whiting , a sister, Amy (Ed) Randolph, brother, Scott Whiting, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Mark and Michelle Petrosino, mother-in-law, Carmella Petrosino, his girlfriend, Jan Poorman, and her sons, Todd and Michael as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his father-in-law Mike Petrosino.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a later date and time.
