Gary F. (Sr.) Leader

Gary F. Leader Sr., 92 of Auburn, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

  He was a lifelong resident of Auburn, the son of the late George and Helen (Hyatt) Leader. Gary graduated from East High School, Class of 1950 He previously worked for General Electric, PowerX and more recently retired from the Auburn Enlarged City School District Gary had several hobbies, including gardening, playing Bocce, swimming and was a very skilled and talented artist. Gary also thoroughly enjoyed staying physically fit and stayed very active up until his recent illness. Above everything, Gary cherished the many beautiful and special memories he was fortunate enough to have with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed.

  He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 74 years, Norma (Gabriel) Leader of Auburn, their five beloved children, Cynthia Guarnieri, Denise (Ken) Solomon, Michele (Dick) Borza, Gary (Cathy) Leader Jr., Onorio (Patty) Leader, 12 grandchildren, Salvatore (Calicia) Guarnieri, Giovanna (Jack) Guarnieri, Jason (Melissa) Solomon, Gabriel (Morgan) Solomon, Richard (Colleen) Borza Jr., Joshua Borza, Danielle Borza, Gary F. Leader III, Jacob Leader, Nicholas (Nina) Leader, Nicole (Jeff) Abbott, Zachary Leader, 8 great-grandchildren, two siblings, brother Theodore (Linda) Leader, sister, Sherry (Craig) Ford, a sister-in-law Regina McAllaster as well as several nieces and nephews.

  In addition to his parents, Gary was also predeceased by a son-in-law Salvatore Guarnieri and three brothers, Edward, Donald and Dr. Thomas Leader.

  Friends and relatives are invited to join the family Tuesday, June 18th at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church for Gary's Mass of Christian burial, with the Rev. Louis Vasile as celebrant.
