Gary A. Townsend, 75 of Weedsport, passed away February 15, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Auburn, the son of the late Millard and Elizabeth (Beach) Townsend and had been a life resident of the area. Gary was a master roofer and owning Reliable Roofing. Gary could often be found in a local pool hall or outside doing something if he wasn’t on your roof. If there was a ‘Pool Shark’s photo in the encyclopedia, it just may have, Gary’s face next to it. He loved spending time with his family and will be sadly missed by all of them.
He is survived by his ‘lover’ and best friend, of 37 years, his wife Lynn (Emerson) Townsend, children, Stacey Coleman (Chris Beebe), Tracy (James) Moore, Daniel Townsend, several grandchildren, especially, Mason Jones, Cortney and Meghan Townsend, great-grandchildren, four siblings, Reginald (Georgia) Townsend, Brenda (Bob) Gascoigne Michael (Debbie) Townsend, Patrick Townsend, eight brothers and sisters-in-law, Marjorie Townsend, Patricia Emerson, Michael. Emerson and fiancé Nancy, Cathy Prosser, David Emerson, Scott (Mary) Emerson, Laurie (Skip) Arnold, Mark Emerson, Amy Emerson as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Gary was also predeceased by a daughter Wendy Sherman, son Gary A. Townsend Jr., granddaughter Amber Townsend, sister Nancy McIntyre and brother Millard Townsend.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held later this week, privately and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to either Hospice of CNY or the Matthew House, 43 Metcalf Dr.,Auburn, NY 13021.
