George A. Crowningshield Jr., 67 of Niles, NY passed away at Auburn Community Hospital on June 21, 2026.
He was born in Schenectady; the son of the late George and Bernadette (Lynch) Crowningshield Sr. George retired from Appolo Heating after several years of service. He graduated from SUNY Delhi Tech and Schenectady Community College.
George was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. You could always find him sitting on his porch drinking a coffee while smoking a
"Black & Mild" and watching all types of wildlife pass through the yard. He also was a New York Yankees and NASCAR sports fan, who rarely missed a game. George always put others before himself, especially his children whom he loved immensely. His curly locks of hair and his smile will forever be a trademark of his stunning good looks.
Everywhere he went he touched the hearts of many with his humor and charisma, in Schenectady these traits had earned him the nickname "The Mayor" He is survived by his children Whitney and Meghan Crowningshield, his son David Utterback, and sister Michele Crowningshield. In addition, his beloved animal companions Stella, Xena, Allie, Zoey and Ruby.
