Gerard A. Fredette Jr., 68 of Weedsport passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 24,2025 at Albany Medical Center after a courageous battle fighting cancer.
He was born on January 6, 1957 in Irondequoit, New York the son of the late Gerard A. and Elizabeth (Slayton) Fredette Sr. Better known as Jerry to his friends he enjoyed playing quick draw and money dots with the guys. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, New York Yankees baseball and his passion was his Pittsburgh Steelers, even though he was surrounded by Buffalo Bills fans. Jerry was a Harley Davidson enthusiast owning three in his lifetime.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1974 and proudly served his country. He started at Stott and Davis Motor Express as a truck driver when he was 21 years old, and were sold and became Howard’s Express in 2000. Jerry drove for Howard‘s Express and later proudly retired from driving while working for Barr Transportation in Auburn, New York. He then drove school bus for Weedsport School District for more than 10 years before completely retiring. Jerry participated in several NYS Truck Driving Rodeos, having brought home several trophies. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife , Michele , with whom would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this October. Jerry is also survived by his sons Mark Fredette of Palm Bay Florida, Noah Fredette (Nellie McGlashen) of Salt Lake City, UT, stepson Brian Walker of Daytona Beach, FL, stepdaughter, Jennifer (Benjamin) Lovell of Auburn, NY and two very special young ladies near and dear to his heart , Madeline and Alexis Lovell, two brothers , John (Meg) Fredette of Tampa, FL, Robert (Kay) Fredette of Oklahoma City, OK, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by brother Michael Fredette, and a sister Sheila Maples.
There will be no services and his burial in Weedsport Rural Cemetery will be private, just for family.
