Gloria Sliss Obituary

Gloria M. (Bergin) Sliss, 81 of Auburn passed away peacefully Thursday, September 18,2025 in Auburn Community Hospital with her loving husband at her side.

She was a lifelong resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late, Michael and Elizabeth (Cuddeback) Bergin.  She graduated from Central High School, Class of 1962 and attended A.C.C. Gloria worked for many years in the banking industry at various local establishments, including Fleet and Bank of America.

She was a very devout Catholic and particularly fond of and loved the Blessed Virgin Mary. Gloria was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary's Church where she was a very active member. These included membership in the Rosary and Scapular Society, co-president and founding board member of St. Mary's School PTO, Bible group, pasta dinners, and longtime member of the Martha Society. Gloria was an avid tennis fan and enjoyed watching matches especially when Rodger Federer played. She cherished the many special times with her family and friends, especially the countless meals she would prepare for them. Gloria gained inspiration from watching various cooking shows on TV. She always so much enjoyed watching her grandson's participation in their activities such as Marching Band and Swimming. There would never be a day where wouldn't be surrounded by beautiful flowers and decorating her home, most likely with an angel or two in each room. Gloria will be especially missed for her unwavering love, devotion and total support to her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Jerome ‘Jerry’ Sliss, two sons , Chris (Sandra) Sliss, Greg Sliss all of Auburn, two beloved grandsons, Gregory and Jeremy Sliss, a sister Patricia ( Gordon) Church of Auburn, brother Andrew (Donna) Bergin of Seneca Falls, two sisters-in-law Janice Bergin and Patricia (Richard) Stone, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased at birth by a twin brother Eugene, and two more brothers John ‘Jack’, and Michael Bergin as well as their beloved canine friend Judd.
A calling hour will be held this Thursday, September 25th from 10-11 am in St. Mary’s Church, with her Mass of Christian burial to immediately follow at 11am in the church, 15 Clark St., Auburn.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Gloria ‘s memory to St. Mary's Church.
