James Wesley Aitken May 24, 1949 - November 2, 2024

James Wesley Aitken, 75, of Port Byron, formerly Montezuma, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, November 2, 2024. He was born on May 24, 1949, to the late James J Aitken Jr. and Arline (Lambert) Aitken. James was also predeceased by his wife, the love of his life, Patricia "Peppermint Patty" MacMillan Aitken.

James was a volunteer firefighter for many years with Montezuma Fire Department and Conquest Fire Company. He previously worked as an auto technician for Globe Amerada Glass in Syracuse and was a skilled mechanic. Jim enjoyed camping, especially to Alexandria Bay. He was affectionately known to everyone, as their 'Uncle Jim'. Jim also was very active in his racing family and was a pit crew specialist. He enjoyed following NASCAR and his favorite; racer was Jeff Gordon. Jim was an avid cat lover.

James is survived by his loving sister, Sharon "Church" Russell (Donald); Niece: Rhonda Russell (Troy); Nephews: Ed Chapman Jr. and Eric Chapman (Michele). He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews, as well as cousins. James is also leaving behind his 5 well-loved cats.
