Jean E. (Wilson) Callea, 93 of Auburn passed away peacefully at The Cottages in Cicero on Wednesday March 25,2026.
She was born in Buffalo, NY the daughter of the late Melvin and Marie ( Reynolds) Wilson and had resided most of her life in the Auburn area . Jean worked various jobs in her earlier years , including General Electric and retired from the Auburn Nursing Home. She was a very devout Catholic and longtime communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was also very active in several capacities including their choir, the cleaning crew and the distribution of many food gatherings. Jean was an avid bowler and longtime supporter of the NY Yankees .She also enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises or taking an occasional trip to the casinos, with her late husband Joe. Jean loved to bake and cook and was excellent at both. She cherished the many special times she was fortunate enough to have with her family and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, son James (Kathleen) Callea of Clay, four daughters, Cheryl (Patrick) Schultz of Cicero, Joanne Callea of Auburn, Susan (Michael) Tashjian of N. Syracuse, Carol (Chet) Bunn of Hastings, 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband Joseph of 2010, and four sisters, Marie English, Gertude McCall, Anne Warobick, and Melvina Rebollo.
A calling hour will be held this Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 10:30 - 11:30 am , with her Mass of Christian burial to immediately follow, all at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Clark St., Auburn. Burial is in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
