Jean M. Schiminske

Jean M. (D’Antonio) Schiminske, 95, joined her heavenly family on April 14, 2025, in Largo, Florida. Jean, a lifelong resident of Auburn, New York was the daughter of the late Arthur and Emma D’Antonio. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen (D’Antonio) Gallo. 

  For many years Jean, along with her late husband Henry (Hank) Schiminske enjoyed the outdoors, spending many summers camping with their family. They shared a love for travel, visiting Alaska, Hawaii and many other locations here in the United States during their retirement. They also ventured abroad spending time in Italy, Ireland, Sicily, Germany and Austria. Jean and Hank formed many good friendships while partaking in activities with the Melrose and Springport Senior Groups. Jean always had a desire to help others, from offering transportation to her ‘Lunch Bunch’ crew or volunteering her services at Matthew House when she was able. She always maintained a feisty spirit! 

  Jean is survived by her children Cynthia (Fred) Prentice, Gregory (Lisa) Schiminske, Judith (Tom D’Amore) Schiminske, Arthur (Cindy) Schiminske and Jeffrey (Lisa) Schiminske along with grandchildren Christopher (Kristen) Prentice, Jonathan (Jacqui Bracey) Schiminske, Kari (Kevin) Cunningham, Jessica Schiminske, Lindsay and Amy Schiminske. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Lauren and Katherine Prentice, Delaney and Conor Cunningham and Gabriella Schiminske. Jean is also survived by a very special cousin, Joan (D’Antonio) Ryan along with her husband John and their family.

  A private family service will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on July 5th. Arrangements with Pettigrass Funeral Home.
