Jeannine Marie (Rossi) Schnurr passed away in the comfort of her home, as was her desire, on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Mabel Rossi and was a lifelong resident of Auburn.
She was an extremely talented baker, painter and craftswoman. Her chocolate cake was legendary, perhaps only overshadowed by her holiday desserts. Her artistic talents were reflected through her coownership of a unique gift shop, the Crimson Cricket. Most importantly though, Jeannine lived a meaningful life marked by kindness, sincerity, and a deep love of her family and pets.
Jeannine is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert Schnurr Jr; a daughter Britton Schnurr and her husband Jon Malm; a son Robert Schnurr III; two granddaughters Francesca (Frankie) Schnurr and Bristol Malm; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Sue Rossi; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; as well as her beloved cat, Whitney.
In addition to her parents, Jeannine was predeceased by her brother, Eugene Rossi.
There will be no calling hours. Jeannine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Saint Mary’s Church. Due to Bob’s health there will not be a receiving line at the church.
Contributions in Jeannine’s memory may be made to: Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York; 41 York St; Auburn, NY 13021.
