Joan M. (Vitagliano) Pickard, 74 of Auburn passed away unexpectedly, Friday evening, January 19,2024 at her home.
She was a life resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Rose (Manzone) Vitagliano. Joan retired from the Auburn Enlarged City School District after many years of service as a custodian at Casey Park Elementary School. Joan loved a lot of the simpler things in life, like, dancing, listening to music, taking long or short car rides, the beautiful summer weather and cooking or baking for her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to get to know this special woman.
She is survived by her loving children, Tricia Vitagliano, Edward J. (Brenda) Pickard Sr., Joseph (Teena) Pickard, eight grandchildren, Edward J. Pickard Jr., Courtney LaFleur, Katelyn Lusk, Tyler ‘ Pickles’ Pickard, Gracie, twins Jacob and Jared, Annie, a brother John Vitagliano, two sisters-in-law Annette Vitagliano and Shirley Martinez, several nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved feline friends, Kaley, Torey and Grace.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Edward Pickard, a daughter Kristina Haviland, sister Patricia Vitagliano and brother Paul Vitagliano.
Calling hours are this Thursday, January 25th from 4-6 pm in the Pettigrass Funeral Home. Services are Friday morning at 11:00 am in the funeral home, 196 Genesee St.,Auburn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
