Kathleen W. (Kierst) Gauthier, 78 of Auburn passed away peacefully Thursday evening, January 11, 2024 at The Finger Lakes Center for Living, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey the daughter of the late Martin and Dorothy (Grimm) Kierst and has resided in the Auburn area most of her life. Kathy was very proud to still having been working up until her recent illness at the Hallmark store in Auburn for which she had been employed for numerous years. Kathleen was most happy being involved in all of her children's and grandsons' events, whether it was being a Girl Scout Leader, cheerleading coach, supporting fan at her grandson's sporting events or school functions, Kathleen was there to root them on. She also enjoyed camping, gardening and spending Sundays by the pool. She will be sadly missed by all who fortunate enough to know this strong and very caring, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Darcy (David) Koziol and Denise (Dean) Moniz, four beloved grandsons, Nicholas and Daniel Koziol, Noah and Jack Moniz, very special niece and nephews, Susan, Michael, Bobby (Sarah) and great-nieces and nephews, Brittany, Samantha, Kevin and McKenzie.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was also predeceased by her husband Gerald in 1989 and a grandson Luke David Moniz.
Calling hours are this Monday, January 15th from 3 to 6 pm in Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Kathy's Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, January 16th at 10:30 am in St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kathy's memory to either St. Alphonsus Food Pantry or the SPCA.
