Keith A. Ahart, 57 of Owasco, passed away peacefully ,Friday morning , December 12,2025 at his home , after a long and brave battle with cancer , and was surrounded by his loving family.
He was a lifelong resident of the area, the son of Susan Carl and his loving stepfather , the late George Kurtz. Keith previously worked for many years at the former Bombardier Co. in Auburn, as well as many other side jobs with several other businesses.He was a very proud US Army veteran , serving our country honorably and supporting them any chance he could. Keith was a ‘true’ outdoorsman, enjoying any activity that involved being outside and especially loved hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was looking forward to sharing his passions with his beloved grandsons. He loved spending time in Alaska, where he fished and explored the Last Frontier. Keith was an avid animal lover, with a special fondness for his canine friends, especially, Ruger, Angelo and Lilly. Keith loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all of them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Sandra (Dec) Ahart, son Dylan ( Samantha Dixon) Ahart, three grandsons, Carson Elliot, Ashton Jeffrey, Duncan Miles, his mother Susan Carl, sister Kristine ( Joseph) McGee of Arkansas, half-brother Kenneth Ahart of Sterling, half-sister Billy Jo Smith of Arkansas, as well as several other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his birth father William Ahart and beloved stepfather George Kurtz.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 17th from 4-6 pm in Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
Keith’s Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 11:30 am in St. Anne’s Church in the Hamlet of Owasco , with the Rev. Michael Brown,officiating . Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
