Kenneth Byrd Sr. Obituary

Kenneth J. Byrd Sr., 57, of Auburn, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on December 26, 2025.

Born in Auburn, New York on July 27 1968. Kenneth was the beloved son of the late Pearlie Mae (Walker) Byrd and Melvin Hall Sr. Known to many as a true Auburn legend, Ken lived life boldly and unapologetically, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. An avid Los Angeles Lakers fan, Ken took great pride in being a Top Dasher with DoorDash, often saying, “Have no fear, DoorDash is here!” He enjoyed working out and playing basketball at the YMCA, making the occasional trip to Del Lago, and relaxing with his favorite drink, a White Russian. Music was always a part of Ken’s presence, you often heard him before you saw him. Whether playing loudly in his car, filling his home, or coming from the portable speaker he carried everywhere, music followed him to family gatherings, the playground with his grandchildren, and even the car wash. Ken was known for being the life of the party, always impeccably dressed, down to his shoes—and living by his favorite saying, “If it ain’t tight, it ain’t right.” Ken will be remembered for his contagious laugh, quick jokes, unmistakable personality, love of dancing wherever the moment struck, fancy cars, muscle shirts, and the candy bag he always carried for the kids. Most of all, he will be remembered for the joy, laughter, and unforgettable presence he brought into the lives of those around him. Above all else, Ken cherished his role as a father and grandfather. He treasured time spent with his kids and grandchildren and took great pride in attending their events and being an active part of their lives.
He is survived by his children, Cherelle Byrd (Dontay Wilson), Kenneth J. Byrd Jr., and Zachary Tabone; his beloved grandchildren, Laniyah Blake and Dontay Wilson Jr.; his siblings, Minnie Butler, Cindy Byrd, Onetha Byrd , Melvin hall Jr., and Vernon Hall; goddaughter, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved and helped raise as his own, along with a host of cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was predeceased by his sister, Vanessa Byrd. In accordance with Ken’s wishes, there will be no services at this time.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have shown love, support, kind gestures, condolences, and prayers during this difficult time.
