AUBURN | Laura M. Velardi was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late Frank and Jennie Morabito. She graduated Auburn High School and Business School, and retired from Auburn Correctional Facility after 31 years as Sr. Steno. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Sacred Heart Society. She was also a member of Mercy Auxiliary and a former volunteer. She enjoyed traveling and playing golf, bowling and playing bridge with her friends. She was a Yankees fan all her life.
She is survived by her devout and loving children, Don (Nancy) Velardi, and David (Terry) Velardi; grandchildren, Nicole (Bryan) Freeman, Andrew (Amanda) Velardi, Michael Velardi, Daniel Velardi, Cara Velardi, and Kimberly (Derek) Dunn; great-grandchildren, Cody and Taylor Freeman, of Florida, Paisley and Grayson Velardi, of Florida, Owen, Derek, and Margaret Dunn, of Connecticut; sister, Angela Mucia, and sister-in-law, Ann Morabito. She is survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving son, Francis; sister, Mary Mucia; brother, Joseph; brothers-in-law, Sam and Joseph Mucia, and former daughter-in-law, Deborah Anderson.
A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. this Friday the 13th with Mass to immediately follow at 10:30 a.m., all in Sacred Heart Church, Melrose Road, Owasco.
