Martin E. Angelino Jr, 88, of Auburn passed away on September 12, 2023, at Upstate University Hospital with his daughters by his side.
Marty was born on August 21, 1935, in Oneida, NY, the son of Mabel & Martin Angelino Sr. He graduated from Notre Dame, was an officer in the Navy and later received his master’s degree from Syracuse University. His career in education started with teaching but led to his long-term position as Guidance Counselor at Port Byron Central School District. Later, Marty went into career placement for many local companies such as Smith Corona.
He married the love of his life Rowena on July 17, 1973, and enjoyed numerous outdoor activities together. They spent their summers in the Adirondacks, hiking and kayaking, and winters vacationing on Sanibel Island.
Marty was a ski instructor at Song Mountain for many years and took many ski trips out west with the Ski Club. He coached the tennis team at Auburn High School and especially enjoyed participating in the Great Race, hunting, fishing, and working out at the gym every day.
Martin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rowena, three daughters: Cassandra and Peter Reynolds of Fort Myers, FL, Melanie Angelino and husband Terry Hogrefe of Fort Myers, FL, Amy and Rich Signorelli of Auburn, stepdaughter Becky Nicandri, and late husband John of Auburn, and stepson Peter and Joanne Kudla of Auburn. Grandchildren; Matthew Reynolds, Eric and Andrew Ambert, Maria Angelino, Allie Davenport, Madeline Signorelli, Christy Pyankov, Katie Cazzolli, Joshua Wedge, Ryan and Peter Kudla.
Predeceased by daughter Maria Caroline Angelino and his parents.
A funeral service for Marty will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, September 16th, with calling hours from 10:00 – 11:00 am followed directly by the Funeral Mass. Burial will follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery.
