Mary (Dalesio) Bartlett

Mary (Dalesio) Bartlett , passed away at Auburn Community Hospital after a brief illness on January 20, 2026.

She was born in Auburn,  to Angelina and Frank Dalesio on April 5, 1932, the middle of three children. Her older sister Cecilia (Carl) Bobbett pre-deceased her and she is survived by her younger brother Frank ‘Sonny’ (Jean) Dalesio. Mary was highly intelligent, she graduated from Port Byron High School with high honors , graduating a year early. After graduation, she began working at Port Byron Central High School as their secretary to the principal. She became one of the most beloved staff members, and as such, she was asked to chaperone the 1983 Junior Prom, which gave her immense pleasure and pride. Mary spent 40 years at the school and especially loved the camaraderie of the teachers, staff and most of all, the students. In her time there she got to know many generations of children, as well as several  different principals and teachers.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Franklin Bartlett, who was the love of her life. They took many trips in their earlier days and one more recently that stood out , was their trip to Cheers in Boston.

She spent her retirement years tending to her beloved yard, filled with the most fragrant of her favorite flowers. She also spent time having lunches with the retired secretaries as well as spending time with her family; Jean and Sonny Dalesio, her niece Dawn Dalesio- Casbarro and her nephew David Dalesio and his daughter and her great niece, Samantha Dalesio.

Family  and friends are invited for Mary’s Mass of Christian burial Monday, January 26th at 11:00 am in St. Joseph’s Church ,Weedsport. Burial will be held privately in the spring.

The family would like to gratefully acknowledge her helpers who made the last years of her life more fulfilled; Bridget, Jon, Jeff, Allen, Tim and Jerry.She was an integral part of the Dalesio family and will be missed by all who knew her.
