Mary A. Bunnell, 79 of Aurora passed away peacefully Friday morning, January 31, 2025 at The Commons on St. Anthony.
She was born in Oneida, the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Sharp) Borayi and resided most of her life in the Southern Cayuga area. Mary previously worked for the former Chappell’s clothing store and more recently in the cafeteria for the Southern Cayuga School District. Mary enjoyed being outdoors and kept a meticulous yard. She also took great pride in her flower garden , loving and nurturing every type of flower, especially her favorite, the Zinnia . Mary enjoyed an occasional trip to one of our local casino’s and celebrating a win with a glass of wine. She loved going on cruises and traveling, each year to Atlantic Beach with her friends and Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos with her family. She cherished all the special times with her family and will be deeply missed by all of them.
She is survived by her loving sons, Eric (Tina) Bunnell, Tracy Bunnell, three granddaughters, Cassandra Bunnell (Tony), Allyson (Sean) Thurston, Megan Frey (Matthew) , six-great grandchildren, Aiden, Evan, Thea, Gabriel, Arthur, Simon and soon to be seventh great- grandchild, a sister Barbara Arpino, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved canine companion, Lola.
In addition to her parents, she was also a predeceased by her husband, Garald ,sister, Martha Tague and brother Joseph Borayi.
Calling hours are this Thursday, February 6th from 4-7 pm in the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Mary’s burial and celebration of life will be held in the spring at a date and time that will be announced.
