Mathew J. Janowski

Mathew J. Janowski, 50 of Owasco passed away Tuesday December 9,2025.
He was born in Auburn, the son of Joyce ( Moses) and John Janowski and had been an area life resident . Mat or Jow as he was affectionately known was a Union Springs High School graduate, Class of 1993 and received his bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College, Class of 1997. Mat was currently employed by Farm Family Insurance Company as an insurance agent. He was a standout high school basketball player. Mat was an avid outdoorsman, especially loving to hunt, with his favorite being water fowl and geese . Another passion was his collection of World War II memorabilia. Mat would often be titled as a ‘gentle giant’ or ‘old soul’. Mat’s charismatic ways, ability to tell a good joke and uncanny personality, will never be matched or duplicated by anyone . A ‘true’ legend in his own mind!
He is survived by his loving parents, John and Joyce Janowski, several aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends and colleagues.

A Celebration of Life will be  Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 1-4 at Yawger Brook,989 Chamberlain Road.
