Michael J. Kelliher

Michael J. Kelliher of Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2024, following a long illness, he was 85 years old.

Michael is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann Kelliher, his parents Albert and Helen Kelliher, his sister Betty Ann Dewhurst, and his brother Joseph Kelliher.

Michael was the beloved uncle to 13 nieces and nephews, including Maryellen O'Donnell, Paul Dewhurst, Peter Dewhurst, Susan Robertson, Beth Sears, Sharon Kelliher, Theresa Kelliher, Kathy Kexel, Patrick Kelliher, Mena Fitch, Rick Detoto, Lauren Poston and Abby Poston. He loved spending time with his extended family and was loved by many wonderful nieces and nephews.

A native of Arlington, MA, Michael was a graduate of both Arlington (MA) High School and later Merrimack College.

Michael's first job sent him to the Washington, DC area where he eventually met and married his wife Ruth Ann.

Professionally, Michael spent his long career as an engineer in the defense industry where he worked for many years for both Vitro and BAE.

Michael enjoyed life to the fullest, loved spending time with family and friends on trips to either upstate New York or Cape Cod, and never missed an opportunity to tell a joke. He will best be remembered for his wide smile, joyous laugh, and his giving heart.

A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2 at 10:30am at St. Hyacinths Church, 61 Pulaski Street, Auburn, NY. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 6020 Lake Ave., Auburn, NY.
