Michael “Mick” Savino, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his home in Auburn, New York.
Mick had a vibrant zest for life which he demonstrated daily through engaging conversation, inspiring music that touched the heart and soul, and true Italian food. We must remember his smile, laugh, and cherish the memories which we were all so fortunate to share during his time on this earth.
Mick is survived by his two children: Drew (Meg) Savino and Meghan Savino. Two beautiful granddaughters, Reni and Briar Savino, who referred to him as “DIPA”, and were the light of his life. Partner Barbara Pordy, friend and mother of his children Karen Savino, two brothers David (Lynne) and Gary (Laurie) Savino, as well as many cousins and extended family.
Professionally, Mick was a Regional Sales Manager for Advanced Sealing International, formerly focusing on over 25 years in nuclear power. More commonly known, he was a bass guitar player for the past 56 years, for decades with the Blue Lights and currently Jim E Leggs Trio. Mick is his predeceased by his parents Rocco Savino and Elizabeth “Betty” Savino. His close aunts and uncles: Mary Claire Klugo, Bob McGill, Antoinette & Joseph Villano and Joseph Savino. In addition, close cousin and best friend Mike Villano, as well as band mates Ron Garropy and Bob Spadafora.
Pettigrass Funeral Home is handling all arrangements for the family, with calling hours on Monday July 21st from 4-6:30 pm at the funeral home,196 Genesee Street, Auburn. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday July 22nd, at 10:30 am in Sacred Heart Church.
